Our Personal Story
My name is Boyd Holland. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. I grew up in the family business of construction and interior design. I had a fulfilling career as a Relationship Manager and Program Manager at Microsoft in the technology industry. In 2011, I joined my mother's residential interior design business to grow and scale the business. Shortly after joining the company, I noticed the first signs of my mother's cognitive decline, and she was ultimately diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015. It was through this personal 10-year journey of Alzheimer's with my mother that I discovered the world of Aging-in-Place and how important it is for someone to be able to live in their homes safely, independently, functionally, and comfortably.
My journey inspired me to become a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist and has led me to fill what I believe is a critical gap - creating and maintaining a safe, functional, and comfortable home environment for as long as possible - through practical home modifications and assistive technologies before your needs change. I love my work. It's not uncommon for me to have a personal connection with the families I work with or the industry professionals I partner with.
Meet Christy and Bandon
My wife Christy walked alongside me and my entire family with love, patience, and support on the Alzeimer's Journey with my mom. She was creative in all the ways she connected with her, meeting my mother wherever she was and making her feel seen, heard, and safe.
My mother's doctor often referred to Christy as The Truth Seeker. Given her involvement with my mother's journey, her kind heart, strong business acumen, and passion for solving problems when she sees one, we've partnered on this venture together. She's rolled up her sleeves and is all in.
Bandon is our 4-year-old Mini Berne-Doodle and brought a lot of comfort, joy, and purpose to my mom as a companion.
Don't be surprised if Christy or Bandon join us for one of our appointments.
